    As I watched the sunset from the shore, this pretty island lit up in colors.What a splendid place for a saint to ponder & practise, that then made him preach! No wonder Swami Vivekananda chose this.

    Sunsets are my favorite part of travels. Whether it's the mountains or the beach, I just love to be there to watch it entirely. The waves danced with vigor against the rocks as the sun shone at dusk.

    The skyline of the coastal city of Kanyakumari looked tiny from the side of the sea. Fishermen wrapped up their day at a distance. The faint sound of motor boats sounded like a music with the waves.

    Be there during both sunset & rise
    This statue of Thiruvalluvar, the ancient saint and poet weighs 7000 tons, & was constructed in 2000. Tourists aren't allowed inside the temple, & I managed to get so close with my lens from boat๐Ÿ”ญ

    I am totally not a morning person & so I am rarely up anywhere.So it was an experience to shoot the morning shots.I didn't sleep the whole night since I knew I would miss sunrise. Crazy, but true!๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™ˆ

    So I started from my hotel at 5, to hit the beach for sunrise photography. Surprisingly, there were people gathered, picking up spots for watching sunrise. I walked the farthest, to reach the rocks๐Ÿ’•

    The clouds started making way for the first rays of sun as I sat eagerly working on my shots soaking in the fresh breeze that smelled of raw sea & the tinge of salt from the waves.But boy, luck ended!

    Well, out of nowhere it started raining heavily, and the clouds got darker blocking the sunrays! My sleepless night & the morning wasn't a total hit๐Ÿ˜• But managed to capture some of these!

    The Tsunami that hit the coast in 2004 was a close shave to this statue as well. Although nothing major happened, the statue & the temple took a toll, following which public entry got restricted.

    The ferry services start early in the morning with a break in between for lunch & goes until evening. A short ride will take you to the memorial of Swami Vivekananda. ๐Ÿšฃ

    As you first step on to the memorial, Shripada Mandapam welcomes at the front. On one side of the horizon is the Indian ocean that faces Srilanka, while the other side overlooks the mainland of India.

    This long stretch of ocean is cut by Sri Lanka, that lies on the other side. Aren't we so infintiesmally small in the scheme of things, in the sphere of the universe, & yet so obsessed with ourselves!

    Deciding to take a stroll along the coastline looking for some stories,I ventured into the fishing harbor.My plan was to find a perfect place for sunset photography, but these boats kept me occupied.
