My obsession for Italy is well known. My new found love for Florence however has taken over after binging on the Netflix original; The Medicis, the Masters of Florence which influenced me to take a trip this magical, historical city!

It’s not just me though. The whole world has been obsessed with this little Tuscan outpost! For more than 2 millennia, Florence has seen countless invasions, political and religious turmoil, warring factions and financials booms.. all adding to its beauty!

Like tectonic forces acting on coal to produce diamonds, so history has acted upon Florence to create some of the most magnificent masterpieces the world has ever seen!
  • Palazzo Vecchio
    Palazzo Vecchio
From Michelangelo’s breathtaking marble boy toys to Ghiberti daunting doors and Brunelleschis curvaceous wall ha hung over it all.. that sweet and sultry renaissance stimulates the senses and sits so nicely in the soul..

Florence in my option is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The renaissance architecture, white buildings capped with red roofs, winding streets make one of my favourite spots in Italy! And with the numerous museums that tell stories of the past? Magnificent.

Being an art and history lover, the amount of art galleries here blew my mind away. They could have kept me busy for weeks in end! You’d think they may be slightly similar but each galley was so distinctly beautiful!
  • Church of Santa Felicita
    Church of Santa Felicita
More than the art, there were gorgeous renaissance churches, buildings and streets to be discovered!

Giuseppe Verde once said “You May have the universe if I may have Italy.” And this is exactly what I felt about Florence after my visit here.

Is it because Italy has it all? Is it the perfect destination rolled up into one nice, elongated piece? What is the root of this romantic, mysterious, fascination with the country? I understood it oh so clearly as soon as I came here.

Florence in the summer turns to an amusement park. I’m not exaggerating. There are so many tourists and sites and attractions to see, it can actually be pretty daunting!
  • Boboli Gardens
    Boboli Gardens
One of the prettiest places I’ve visited here. There were maze like gardens are gorgeous flowers all around, i was honestly in quite a daze, not too many people around so it was quiet and peaceful while taking in the pretty views!

Another one of my favourite places was leisurely ambling around Palazzo Vecchio. It was THE place to completely consume the time of the renaissance. The architectural beauty and art said everything it could about the history of Florence.
  • Pianoro Vecchio
    Pianoro Vecchio
The Pont Vecchio was designed in 1345 and back in the medieval times it was full of butchers but now it’s crowded with jewellers that makes the place more pretty. But what really struck me was the gorgeous view of the city from here!
  • San Miniato Al Monte

    View from here!
One of the finest Romanesque structures in Tuscany! It felt just as old it looked with its construction back in 1013. Walking up here have one of the most incredible and majestic views of Florence. It was unbelievable.
  • San Marco Museum
    San Marco Museum
One of my favourite churches in Florence, every time i visit I am surprised it’s so smoky! This former Dominican convent is home to a plethora of imprimatur art, and architecturally is quite fascinating as well. The outside was just as gorgeous as the insides of the church!

Besides the art and buildings, the natural beauty was something that had me in awe. The city amazed me right at the start with a beautiful sunset and rainbow. Views like this are unreal.

I don’t think I can ever get over a view like this. Florence was a gift that just kept on giving. Every street there was something that made us stay there a little bit longer so we could take in the magic of Florence!
  • Piazzale Michelangelo
    Piazzale Michelangelo
The most renown spot for enjoying an obstructed view over not only for once but also the Arno Valley! Incredible scenery with the Tuscan hills as the backdrop ❤️

As a self governed independent city state and the seat of the most artistic, technological and scientific flowering, Florence became a glorious hub due to funding of the powerful Medici family. Learning about the Medici heritage was absolutely thrilling!
