    The numerous coffee “pubs”Beautiful forests!
Coorg was a state of mind.. it was more of a feeling, a way of life.. after hearing so much about the ‘Scotland of India’, my trip here made me feel like a walked into a spa or even Ana Amazonian Rainforest. Spices surrounded me as we drove through the lush green wilderness 🍃

As I got off and entered one of the numerous coffee pubs for a refreshing break, I heard the sound of humming insects in the plantations around. I was instantly filled with a sense of peace, serenity and tranquility which took over as a inhaled the fresh cardamom and pepper!

Coorg is rightly known as the Scotland of India. It was the most ideal place for a trip from Bangalore. Especially as I so often dream about lush greenery, breathtaking waterfalls, hills covered with forests with spectacular misty landscapes.. Coorg has it all!

The scenery was mesmerising. The winding roads took me through a maze of greenery. At every labyrinth corner, I met a collage of colours which exploded into shades of green, brown and yellows! It was gorgeous!

Another thing I loved about Coorg was that the roads seemed to have no particular destination. They just lead us from one part of paradise to another!

As we squinted to the gorgeous green fabric, we passed through plantation of coffee, cardamom and peppers which merged with forests, foliage and fauna. There were no villages, no people, no shops.. it was silent and beautiful.

We deliberately slowed down during our journey in the car to take in the beauty and the moments of peace that surrounded us as drove pass the abundance of greenery!
  • Western Ghats
    Western Ghats
We didn’t think it could get any prettier but as we went up the Ghats we saw slopes carpet eye with coffee plantation KS intersperses with pepper! It was an ode to nature, no wonder it had been attributed the sobriquet; The Scotland of the east..

    Quaint tents around estates
There were a beeline of tourists camping who were proof of the various boards of homestays and tents that interrupted the greenery but added to its beauty..

But there was more to Coorg than coffee as we soon discovered when we caught a glimpse of the charming town and its cultural landscape..

It was a heady mix of hidden myths and legends, a lost history and cultural and spiritual influence that added to its magic!
  • Abbey Falls Madkeri
    Abbey Falls Madkeri
We had stopped at the Abbey Falls which was absolutely gorgeous! It was a breathtaking sight where the Cauvery river cascades down a rock face from a height of 70 feet.. it was astonishingly pretty!

There wasn’t a better way to end the tiring but exciting day than with a bonfire. The weather was cool and with the warmth of the fire it made it the perfect way to relax, and enjoy everything we had done that day!

It’s sometimes tough to think of India as so green. Coorg proved a whole lot of wrong in that area. It was an absolute paradise for nature lovers and just about anyone looking to calm their frayed nerves! 🌲
