My friends and I planned an all girls trip to Kodagu this year. The perfect time to visit is July, but we went during Jan, which worked out just as well! The trip was 4 days and 4 nights long, which is just enough time to cover the main attractions of Kodagu!

Travel at night to save time!
My 4 friends and I planned the trip for our semester break in our final year. Since none of us are confident in driving in Coorg, we booked a night bus. We used the metro to get to the bus station and were off by Midnight!

We booked a cab for our entire stay. The fee was ₹3500 per day, which was the same price any agency quoted. Our driver seemed to have memorised every single curve and bend of the roads and because of that, we didn't drive, we flew!

We stayed in a beautiful homestay called Skanda Homestay right opposite Thithimatti bus stop. My friends and I shared a room and it worked out for the best! The place is so quiet and peaceful and the staff were extremely friendly! Do visit if you can!

Make sure to climb to the top!
The first place we visited was Tala Cauvery. The journey from Thithimatti to Bagamandala is 2 hours long, but the view is exquisite! The temple is very well maintained. When you visit, make sure you climb the 360 steps of Brahmagiri. The video is from the top!

I HAVE TO TELL YOU GUYS! Make sure you eat the Maggi you get outside the temple! That along with the lime soda was like fuel to our tired souls! With that, we were off to the city for lunch! In order to save money, we stuck to meals, which is the safest option for your tummy!

Our evening was spent in Mandalpatti. This was easily the highlight of our trip! Normal cars are not allowed to the peak, so the journey to the top was in a jeep! As rocky as the ride was, it was that much fun! Our driver was so sweet and we joked with him throughout!

    Try the safari!
The trek to the top is a short one. We were there just in time for the sunset! We spent about an hour at the peak. They do not let people beyond 6pm, as it's also a wildlife sanctuary. But please make sure to visit Mandalpatti when you go to Coorg!

Once the safari was done, we had hot chai at the pick up point and with that, we were done for the day. At the Homestay, we had yummy dinner, and called it a day. We ended up staying all night, talking endlessly and fell asleep in the wee hours of the next day.

We started our day early the next day with our first stop being river rafting! We had saved a lot of money for this but since it was not the season, we spent just 150 each! The raft was 2km long and our guide let us dive in to the river! We played in the water for an hour!

One of my friends was afraid of the water, but it's okay, since the water is quite shallow and if you're scared, the guides don't hesitate in pushing you in! With the elephants on one side and trees on the other, the rafting was an amazing experience!

Our next stop was the Buddhist Monastery. The place is amazing if you want to shop for your friends and yourself! Clothes, accessories, souvenirs and everything else is available here! And let me tell you, the canteen in the shopping complex is to die for! Fried momos is a must!
  • Nisargadhama
    Nisargadhama
Our last stop for day 2 was Nisargadhama. Its a picturesque place, but after so much excitement, it was not that exciting. There're a lot of places to shop, for food, clothes and sweets. Spending just half an hour, we left.

We had plans of going to Nagarahole on our last day, but decided that spending time in the estate was a better idea. We went for a walk around the estate in the morning, had a wide spread of yummy food for breakfast and lunch, and at night, spend hours together at the bonfire!

With that, our trip to Coorg came to an end. We left next morning after thanking the wonderful staff of Skanda Homestay. I highly recommend this homestay for those of you who are making a trip there. Its cozy, homely and has a really warm feeling to it. Not to mention beautiful!
