I believe that unplanned trips are the best ones. One such trip was while we were travelling to Coorg and google maps popped up a nearby place Shivanasamudram. Hearing the name we were fascinated and geared our way to the waterfalls.
Situated on river Kaveri
The waterfall is situated at a distance of 130 km from Bangalore in Mandya district of Karnataka state. These are a segmented waterfall with several parallel streams formed adjacent to each other. Gaganachukki & Barachukki are collectively known as Shivanasamudram waterfalls.
Rocks are too rough & slipperyDon't fool around & risk your life
Situated on river Kaveri, the waterfall looks amazing with the strong gush of water. The twin falls that tumble down the rocks beautifully & powerfully attracted me towards them. I stood beside the rocks and felt the sprinkles of water over my feet.
Swimming is not permitted here
The currents were quite strong and gorged deep down. They cascaded their way through the rocky beds from a height of over 320 feet. There were excellent views on the sides of waterfall. The rocky formations established superb natural beauty.
Good picnic spot
We also enjoyed the coracle rides to the mouth of the waterfall. It was a photogenic place where the waterfalls flowed at their flow glory. There was a section wher the flow was less and we also enjoyed a quick bath. Indeed a memorable experience!
