Little towns around the city!Beautiful and warm homes
Rome had a lot to offer, but in search for variety and a break away from the city, there were a treasure trove of towns within easy reach that we discovered!
  • Italy
    Italy
For an afternoon trip or a long weekend, Lazio and its neighbouring regions – Umbria, Toscana and Campania – offered an abundance of places that were rich in beauty, character and delicious specialties! Exploring each of these was wonderful.
  • Assisi
    Assisi
Home of Italy’s patron saint and lovingly restored to its medieval glory, from Assisi we enjoyed endless panoramic views from its hillside terrace!

    Pretty and picturesque
The imposing Basilica di San Francesco, was definitely the big draw. The Roman temple nestled among the buildings along the central Piazza del Comune also made for lovely photos!

And we got the best views of the countryside by climbing up to the ruined fortress which was breathtakingly beautiful!
  • Bagnoregio

Bagnoregio’s greatest asset was its setting. Inside the old town, rustic stone houses, and the occasional semi-wild garden, was so pleasing to photograph!
  • Anguillara Sabazia
    Anguillara Sabazia
A trio of charming towns – Bracciano, Trevignano and Anguillara - set on the shores of lake Bracciano together made for a full day and relaxing weekend away from Rome. All three were different, but equally attractive.
  • Trevignano Romano
    Trevignano Romano
Each town offered cosy old streets and nooks tended with great care by the residents, adorned with tastefully-arranged flowering shrubs, vines, and potted plants.

Trevignano’s old main street behind the monumental archway is the most accessible example, but the steep lanes between Bracciano’s castle and the lake-view terrace were also worth a look with its subtle beauty. Each home here told a different story! It was stunning.
  • Bracciano
    Bracciano
Bracciano had a commanding panorama of the lake from its lofty terrace, while Anguillara had a pleasant lakeside promenade for an afternoon stroll! It was so peaceful and pretty in these beautiful towns!

Rome is glorious and magnificent but taking these trips away from the city made me appreciate Italy's beauty and magnificence even more!
