The small islands to exploreBeautiful resorts!Warm locals
This little tourist town on the Ionian coast didn’t feel like the rest of mainland Greece. It was even more colourful, even more welcoming and prettier, though I thought it couldn’t have possibly gotten more beautiful. This island right here proved me wrong...

Needless to say, the attraction between Parga and I was immediate. With the warm and welcoming locals into this picturesque, pretty, blue island? There was nothing else that I could ask for!

The twisting streets lined with shops and frozen yoghurt stands, a Venetian castle overlooking the turquoise waters, and pastel buildings stacked on top of one another along the coast, Parga was exactly the sort of place I needed.

Just admiring the island with its pretty houses and what not, it roughly took about 2-3 minutes to fall in love with Parga!

Parga is pretty much unknown by non Greeks except for the sprinkling of Swedes and Dutch who have been driving down to their little corner of paradise for summer. The touristy feel yet lack of crowds made this island perfect!

I got talking to a Dutch woman on one occasion where she told me the story of how 10 years ago she was on her way to turkey with her husband when her car broke down near Parga. They were taking the scenic route along the coast and were blessed which such lovely views..

.. they had plenty of time on their hands and weren’t too upset about being stranded on the island for a day or two while they car was being fixed but. They never got to turkey. They stayed here for a month and have returned every August!

Not surprising though. That’s the power of Parga. It’s absolutely beautiful. It offered so many different views and routes that you wouldn’t even believe it was the same island! Every one just as pretty though!

Although it was a little tough to reach here since it’s right out of the way on the west coast of the mainland, the drive down was beautiful as we descended from the mountains to come to this island with a view of a beach!?

Plus. Parga was pretty small. It was a jumble of little pedestrian only filled lanes with tiny shops and restaurants heading down to the waters! The best way to explore was by foot of course but also sailing around the area to take in the beauty!

While walking around it was a little tough cause people would be shopping all over the place and snapping pictures but as is the case ever so often when you’re cloning to a viewpoint, the view point only gets better with every step.. and it was worth it!

Parga never felt over crowded: there was always space on the sandy beaches! While enjoying a chat with the oh so friendly shopkeepers and waiters all around! The locals made the island even more special!

There was just so much to do here. You could swim slash wade pit in the warm water to the little island on the middle of the bay, topped with a cute church, which I did and instantly fell in love with!

All around there was something to be admired. Whether it was the scenic beauty to gorge at or just the locals and tourists going about their days, Parga was an island like no other..

It was so small you’d think there couldn’t possibly be so much to so here by there really was. Just the number of beaches was a shocker! And each beach offered different sands from white to black to gold.. even the water felt different..

This was truly the part of Greece that I had been waiting to meet. And I knew this as soon as I stepped foot on the island and was reminded when I felt the water on the beach..

I didn’t want to move from the beach. I could have lounges in the sun, eaten fro yo and swim to my hearts content. It was so tempting. But I knew the rest of the island was awaiting!

My feelings for this city, this little Greek island, came on swift and strong. And with views like this, can anyone blame me?

Everything about the island felt like it was part of a whole other world. No worries, just clear skies, turquoise waters, cute houses, gorgeous people and a welcoming atmosphere!

Walking around and casually strolling the city filled me with a sense of peace. I didn’t feel like doing anything but basking in the beauty of Parga.

The only downfall of the island was the fact that I had only a couple of days to spend here. Of course getting a chance to boost the beaches and take in the views was amazing! But there was so much more to discover here..

The island was magical and alluring. It had a compulsion begging me to stay. Unfortunately I couldn’t but I do know that I will be back as soon as I can to visit again. Little did I know what a big role this small island would have on me and my time in Europe!
