The bliss of the Himalayas. The hill station obsession.
The Himalayas in India cannot really be compared to anything in this entire world. Yes there are places far more beautiful, and more developed etc. but what the Himalayan hills make you feel is an experience that is one of a kind & every once in a while, I find myself retreating.

The river Beas calls. The recluse of a river.
Ever since I was child, I've been to Manali already twenty times! It is by far my favourite hill station and it never compares to any other place. The lovely sight and sounds of the Beas river make me feel like I'm right at home and on many occasions I've sat here for hours !

A walk in the apple orchard !!Love for walk in nature.
Once you reach Manali, you'll find that there is so much that one can do, alone and with a group because the town is also the best connecting place to a lot of good trekking trails, other small valleys and towns of interest and itself has so much more like such apple orchards !!

    Discovering old Manali.
Once I set my mind to discovering as much as I can in Manali, I was fascinated beyond belief to all that it holds. Carefully separated from the main town of 'Mall Road Manali', old Manali is where the sites of interest lie. From musical cafes to such lanes inside, it's a wonder !

A hill station of all seasons.
I've visited the place in summers, spring, during monsoon as well as in winters & each time the experience has been a different kind of amazing ! In fact Manali was the very first place where I saw snow for the first time. The hotel industry in this town flourishes all the time.

Snow falling through the windows.First snow fall of the season !!
The first time that I saw snow fall here, it was an indescribable feeling and very special for me. The rivers start to grow colder and the town sets into a different kind of motion as soon as winters approach this beautiful place. A lot of places can be seen closing down too.

    Wandering through lanes.
I remember walking up from one of the cafes and stumbling upon a locality where only houses were built as if on a small hill. We kept climbing up, reached a big volleyball ground where a few children were playing so we sat there for an hour just watching the game. It was surreal.

One of the most splendid aspects about Manali essentially is the journey towards and from it. Anyone crossing Manali will be swayed to stay there for a while even if for a day because city demands your attention. The spectacular journey across the river is a sight for sore eyes.

One of the most visited locations while you're in Manali is definitely Rohtang Pass and the journey there can get a bit tricky. However, the scenic landscapes that surround the entire way to the place are nothing less than straight out of a movie. It's like walking in the clouds.

The road to Rohtang ! Adrenaline and adventure.
There are several occasions during the journey when travelers will have various hiccups mid road but that's the adventure of it all. Landslides are common on this journey so it's better to go prepared & especially with a full tank of gas since there are hardly any stops mid-way.

During winter when the entire roads are covered with snow, the place has a very different appeal to it. One had to be careful traveling through the snow and wear warm clothes all the time, but that's also part of the fun ! The entire town lights up in a different mood.

This was an interesting thing that we see happening in front of our hotel once once. This time we had taken a hotel that was a little farther of from the main town and there were a lot of fun things to do around there, like go carting and playing in the snow.

Traveling upwards to the hills.Hills in winters !!
If we start to travel a bit farther than Manali towards the Kheer Ganga treks, Rohtang Pass or Spiti Valley, the landscapes just keeps getting better and better ! The small little dwellings in the area are so picturesque during winters that it makes you want to live there too.

    Sunsets in Manali.
The sunsets in the Himalayas is something that has always soothed me and is one of the main reasons why i keep returning back to it. The unrelenting silence of everything at such heights has always marveled me and Manali is one such place where the experience is always augmented.

One of the things i would definitely recommend doing while in Manali is to pick a trek that you've never tried before and going ahead with it. Trekking is one of the most amazing experiences in these hills and it's a definite To-Do !
