I went to Krabi with some friends because we were obsessed with its beautiful islands, dense jungles and its bustling traveller scene. A large variety of hotels, gift shops, restaurants, beaches, and unlimited activities were all packed in this tiny town! So finally we got to it.

It was a tiresome 16 hour flight, with a layover at Kuala Lumpur. But we finally got there and the tropical holiday vibes of the city were already getting to us :P Krabi (pronounced 'Grabee') is located just upriver from the coast, and has a population of 360,000.

We all caught some sleep first, and roamed around a bit. The next day, all rejuvenated, we headed out to the Ao Nang Beach. It had turquoise water and amazing sceneries! We decided to beach bum a little in that calm environment.

After chatting up and lazing around, we caught a glimpse of some kayaks. I love kayaking and I couldn't believe I would get to explore a bit of the mangrove forests and caves in that area! I had previously read of some awesome karsts jutting out of the water near Krabi too <3

The four of us each took a kayak and got to go through beautiful secluded places like this. It had a serene environment reminiscent of the beach...

After a blissfully tiring day, having a delicious southern style Thai curry called Gaeng som pla kapong (sour curry with barramindi) at a fantastic place gave me a feel for Krabi's awesome food!

The next after breakfast, we actually made a plan for the day :P It was time for island hopping! There were an endless stream of sensational islands all around Krabi! These were the perfect getaways as they had lots of activities like mountain climbing, trekking, snorkeling etc

People usually book tours to go to 3 or 4 islands, but we decided not to do that because they had time restrictions and preplanned island destinations. What we chose to do, instead, was to hire a longtail boat driver for the day and choose our own islands and timings.

Going through lagoons and these beautiful tiny islands was like a dream! We conversed a lot in the boat, and chose only quiet or less popular places to settle down, even if we had to wander a bit longer. We even found some cool, carved out caves!

The last place we went to was the Tiger Cave Temple. We had a challenge in front of us because it was... 1237 steps. So we prepped ourselves and started climbing. As we went higher and higher, the view improved drastically!

We were blown away by how green the town actually was! It even made me forget about the climb. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us and it wasn't too hot, so we got up there without too much difficulty. The Buddhist temple is known for tiger paw prints in its caves.

The Buddha statue looked august with the backdrop of tropical rainforests. We also saw various caves, artifacts and even decorated human skulls! Legends say that a huge tiger used to roam the caves... Suffice to say, our Krabi trip had been a treat! We returned reluctantly :P
