Taking trips abroad have never been impromptu for me. And so while doing my share of research I stumbled upon Komodo Islands, the lesser known treasure of Indonesia. And with this, we had just found our perfect Holiday destination!

Do you love clear pellucid waters, white sand, vibrant starfishes, bizarre yet fascinating creatures? Well, we sure do! And that's why we fell in love with Komodo Islands. With its splendid flora and fauna and its endless stretches of water, we wished staying there forever.

To reach the Islands, we had first flown to Labuan Bajo from Denpasar (Bali). The journey was of about hour and a half. I would recommend making an early booking as these tend to sell out fast. We had made our bookings 2 months prior to our trip.

We had booked a 1 day 2 nights tour from our hotel which took us to Rinca, Pink Beach, Komodo Village, Komodo National Park, Kanawa Island and dropped us back to Labuan Bajo. We loved our tiny cosy boat with the most adorable graffiti drawn over it.

The boat ride around the islands was so exhilarating. The waters were so clear that we could even see turtles down at the seabed. And since the boat took quite a while to reach the first stop Rinca, we kept ejoying the splendid view around.

While scouting through articles I had discovered the dragons of Komodo Islands. And since then I just couldn't wait to see them. And then the gorgeous sites around me had blurred out with the gruesome thrill of these dragons.

The National Park had an entry ticket. We were assigned a guide who was pretty particular about the house rules: 1. Stay away from the dragon. 2. No taking selfies with the dragon. 3. Don't leave a trail.

If you are a GOT fan then you would know what dragons stand for. And if at all you are a targerian then you would know the stature they hold. Though different, these dragons did give me quite an aderalie rush while I stood there imagining the GOT theme playing in the backdrop.

Meanwhile, the guide told us horrid stories of the journalist who was eaten by the dragons because he didn't abide by the rules. Also, we were told that Dragon's venom was extremely poisonous. It leads to a sure death if not immediately administered with anti-venom.

Our next stop was the beautiful pink beach. A serene place rich in coral and marine life. After a quick swim, we were taken to the Komodo Village, whose vibrant little houses were our abode for the night.

We took a stroll around the village where everybody seemed to know everybody else. The village had a routine where every evening the elders would gather around the volleyball court to see their children playing. For the dinner, we had ramen, rice and some fresh fish with lime โค

If you are one sauna jacuzziย person then this might not be the place for you. The place had a quintessential village demeanour. Community washrooms with tanks and a broken mug, bathrooms with doors that didn't shut. Well, I am the uncanny kind, so I enjoyed the adventure โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ•บ

Next morning we left for Komodo National Park. There were a couple of hikes available which one could choose on the basis of time and availability. And these hikes were the doors to Dragon's home.

The ticket from Rinca was accepted here so one need not pay anything extra. The dragons here were pretty big as compared to the ones in Rinca. So better stick to the guide's rules in case you wish not to be served as a meal to these scary predators.

The best spot to snorkel with manta rays is Lembongan Island in Indonesia. However, this one was pretty close to that. I would recommend you to maintain a safe distance from them but since they are friendly and inquistive otherwise, they might swim towards you. Don't panic!

Having had the best of experiences so far, we weren't,t expecting much now. Howev, we were surprised by the Kanawa Island. The entire island was a private resort property so they charged an entry fee. The visibility was mad! There were starfish strewn across the shallow waters.

And with this, it was time to end yet another adventure. We enjoyed every bit of Komodo Islands. You might google pictures and try gauging the scene here, but it is one such beauty that you can't experience vicariously. If in Indonesia, don't miss this one! ~ Until next time ~
