    Cool summers
Wanting to escape the heat, Gulmarg became our summer travel destination last year! With less crowd and with adventure awaiting us, the beautiful ski resort was all we needed to get away from the heat!

    The beautiful view
We stayed at the famous The Vintage Gulmarg with a Victorian Era vibe and traditional Kashmir architecture. With all modern amenities cared for, The Vintage gave us a gorgeous view from our room that we couldn't have imagined ever!

This was the brilliant view from our room. Waking up to this every morning for a few days was refreshing and so inviting. Since we went in May, there was no snow in this area, but if we travelled a bit higher in altitude, we came across the famous winter sports!

A friend had been to the same property in winter and this was the video he took. The entire place is covered with snow as far as the eye can see and is a different experience altogether if you visit in winter. We didn't experience this kind of snow anywhere close to our room.

    Try the Hot Cuppa
The food at The Vintage is delicious! They have a variety of dining options ranging from fine dining to experiencing live culinary skills. We mostly ate at The Terrace and Garden Grill because of the amazing views from there. During the evenings, we'd never miss a cup of coffee!

We obviously tried many winter sports, but skiing was porbably one of the hardest! Our trainer tried his best to teach us as much as he could, but we just couldn't gain the right balance! Yet it was so much fun and the ride on the longest cable car was totally worth it!

    The adrenaline rush!
This was probably the most adventurous winter sport and my favourite. Snow mobiles are the best to drive because there's no traffic and no roads! I just went wherever the snow took me (and of course, where the guide directed me to!)

We also saw the highest golf course in the world! The Gulmarg Golf Club is open for playing during the summers amidst snow capped peaks, but during the winter, it's used for skiing. None of us are any good at golf, so we decided to just enjoy the view of the course.

    Alpather Frozen Lake
The Alpather Lake is famous for being the frozen lake, but since we visited in the summer it was filled with blue waters! We took a pony ride to the lake and were taken aback by the beauty of it. We'd heard so much about the frozen lake, but the summer made it just as beautiful.

On our last night, we decided to go camping. We were literally in the middle of nowhere surrounded by greenery & mountains. Bonfires and fishing were our activities for the day and we had the best time! The silence in the jungle gave us peace of mind & we didn't want to leave!

After 3 days of fun and adventure, we had to head back. We took the same route which was driving two hours to Srinagar and then a flight back to Bangalore. The entire trip cost about INR 30000 per person which was worth the entire experience!
