Serene Morning. Best time to visit : Winters. Photography & Nature Viewing.
Not often do I get up early in the morning & get my back off the bed to go to a lake that has been famous for its beauty for years. Jaisalmer has been one of my favorite destinations of India for the sole reason being,it captures the beauty of Rajasthan like no other. :')

    Wait for the sunrise :')
Travelling has taught me to wait patiently for the sun to rise up in the sky because then you get to have the first glimpse of the place, all to yourself. The entire atmosphere around the lake was serene & the quietness created a moment that I spent only with myself. :')

    Gadisar Lake
With sleepy peace-searching soul comes lousy filters. The Lake used to be the most important source of water for the people in Jaisalmer during Gadi Singh's reign. No points for guessing the origin of the name. The prayers from the temples around gave it the sound it needed.

Tilon Ki Pol : Lord Vishnu's Temple
With the importance of the lake being so high, there were temples built around it celebrating its significance. The most prominent one around was the Lord Vishnu temple. Listening to the priest singing the bhajans, early in the morning was a delight indeed.

    Paddled Boating : Rs 100 to 500
It's amazing how Rajasthan has always been on the top of its game while showcasing its cultural heritage in the best possible way! Going for a paddled boat ride in this lake was an experience that one must not miss! Listening to the folk music on top of that was awesome. :D

    Spot Migratory Birds. Eurasian Spoonbill
Apart from the cultural heritage that the place boasted of,it was a hot destination for the migratory birds. Visiting Jaisalmer during the winters was indeed a boon because of the number of exotic birds that I got to see. Ah.How do the birds find these places anyway? Anyone? :3

    The folk musicians around!
You know a place is culturally rich when you find the culture oozing into the parking lots as well. The folk musician was accompanied by his wife & he told me how the music runs in his blood & also the fact that he was the 4th generation of musicians. How cool is that? :D

    Shop in the nearby market!
Rajasthan had brought out the photographer in me so much so that I was keen on exploring the lake not only during the day but also during the sunset. Meanwhile,I knew the place had to offer so much more already. Got myself one of those funky umbrellas. "Only in India."

A camel ride into the complex.
I remember how I used to say that the camels have such a happy-go-lucky face when I was a kid. I still feel so though. They seem like they are smiling all the time.I love it how they are always so decorative in Rajasthan as if they too are giving their share to its culture! :D

On seeing this,I recalled the folk musician I had come across in the parking lot. The story about the generations was indeed a fact.I had seen quite a few young sisters on Indian music competitions, hailing from Rajasthan. Seeing them give their best was something else altogether

I have a thing for doors. A door leads the way to the ultimate destination & tells you a lot about the place. A door isn't just a door in Jaisalmer. On entering the compartment,I could see so many other doors lined up with most of them opening to the same hall. :')

Like I mentioned in the previous post, doors aren't just doors in Rajasthan. They are a freaking piece of exquisite art! I wish I could get such antique stuff back home. I saw the man sitting there for hours.I wondered what his story was & if he sits there on a regular basis.

During my entire time there, not once did I get tired of listening to the folk musicians I kept coming across. The moustache just gave away the hint that this man was going to play his instrument with so much ease that it would be awesome to just watch the awesomeness & It was.

    Rajasthani Bangles.
I was having a little "Humans of Gadisar" moment right there during the day. I came across the locals that were there to make a living & seemed confident about the incoming tourist population. The lady here, displayed some of the best earrings I had seen on my visit there. :D

Get a bird eye view of the place
The sun was shining bright up in the sky & I needed a moment to chill a bit but not before taking an entire 360° view of the place! It was freaking majestic. The Lake was huge & the structures around it heightened its beauty tenfold. :')

The place still served as an important source of water for the daily chores of the local households present there. Seeing the sweeper sweep away the dust & the ladies do their daily chores, added the extra authenticity that the place needed. :')

    Feed the carps.
The foreign lady beside me had bought some bread with her when I looked all confused. She then told me how it is a thing to feed the carps of the lake. She obviously had done her research & I decided to do mine properly the next time onward. I settled for some of her bread.:D

    THE photographer's getaway.
The locals had told me how the pigeons fly over the lake during the day but one has to be really lucky to capture a good enough photo for that! My luck played out for me & right after feeding the carps,I saw a huge number of birds flying over the lake! I didn't waste a second.

There were a number of food stalls around the lake complex & everyone was as cool as this guy right here. Although I was a bit unwell to gorge upon any heavy food, lassi was something I couldn't avoid. After all,I needed something to cool down. :D

    Rajasthani Folk Dolls.
Aren't dolls in India synonymous with Rajasthan? The place was filled with such artistic dolls.I love shopping such stuff because then I get to gift these to my mother & the moment her face lightens up is probably one of my favorites. I was really loving all of it. :')

    Self safari!
How often do you get to be your very own safari? As I was all alone there for the entire day,I decided to relish all of it on my own without missing a single spot in the entire place and that consisted of getting out & in of the complex several times! It felt amazing every time

    The Classic Duck.
After a long day of seeing exotic migratory birds & carps,I came back to see a classic duck in the lake..in the middle of nowhere. And somehow it looked exquisite even more than some of the exotic birds that I had seen that day.It was floating in its own pace..in its own home.:')

    Get clicked. ;)
I wasn't going to just sit back & click photos of everything out there.I might do that in every other place but not in Rajasthan, where every frame is an amazing place to get photographed at. The Sunset that I had been longing for was right around the corner then.

    Catch the sunset.
I had a goal set in my mind that day which included seeing the sunset at the Lake. The entire day gave me a little glimpse into the life of the locals around a lake, that used to be the most important source of living for Jaisalmer back then & through that,I got to have a glimpse
