    This is the annual kadlekaayi parshe that happens every year during this time in Namma Bengaluru.This particular fair has a history of many years and it is associated with the Bull temple which is one of the major landmarks of this city. The fair attracts 1000s of people.

    The history of this fair according to the legend says that this place was once covered with groundnut (kadlekaayi in kannada) fields. The farmers faced a lot of menace from one of the bulls and when they tried getting rid of of it they realised that the bull is the Lord Nandi.

    Then, they all collectively prayed to the Lord and promised that a fair of 5 days would be held exclusively for him and in return, he should avoid messing around with their crops . The bull went inside the temple and transformed himself into a statue which further started growing

    Finally to stunt the growth of the bull, the temple priests decided to place a wooden plank on top of the bull's head after which the statue stopped growing. This is one of the tallest statues of bulls all over India. The Lord here would be decked with groundnut Garland now.

    The temple and the temple street would be totally crowded during these 5 days. The fair not only attracts visitors but also a lot of business people who put up variety of stalls. This is one of the grandest fairs held in Bangalore.

    Students from the nearby colleges bunk and spend time in the fair loafing around with funky whistles and keeps the policemen busy. Witnessing the grandeur of this festival during evenings can be an amazing thing.
