Once I was in Canada to visit my sister, one obvious night was reserved for horror movies! What was more obvious was how I gave the scare of her life after bowls and bowls of popcorn along with The Conjuring, Winchester's and the list goes on! Revenge was taken!

The tiny township with the backdrop
She duly fished me off to Banff National Park. Now much like me, you must be thinking how harmful could Minnewanka Lake be? IT WAS HAUNTED! Like that wasn't enough to make my teeth rattle down to a powdery stuff, it turned out to be an entire township of World War II weirdness!

Before I got down to Ghostbusting, some music helped. Located 5 kms away from Banff National park, right in the vicinity this Lake seemed perfectly beautiful. But what I discovered later, sent a chill through my spines. 3 consecutives dams built during the wars brought deluge!

This perfectly placid lake actually hid an entire ghost township washed down by the dam waters! Unbelievable! The scuba divers couldn't stop gushing about how the cottages and even a camp site were perfectly preserved by the ice cold glacier water!

As I joined the tribe of people boat cruising and kayaking across the huge lake, I couldn't help but think of the beautiful Calgary township. Thankfully some of it still remains, while the other is lost under 60 ft of water! Wished I could go scuba diving there someday!

The adventure and the spookCarry heavy woollens
On our way back my sister told me about the once beautiful hotels, parks and even pubs that were submerged beneath the Minnewanka Lake. The river that did this was called Devil's Creek! Just a coincidence maybe? Ghosts or not, the place was prettier than a postcard!
