I had always read about Bandipur national park in my geography books, marking them on the maps. So it was high time that I should have visited the national park.

We had booked our rooms at Dhole's Den, which wasn't very far from the main reserve. We reached Bandipur in the evening, decided to take rest and enjoy bonfire, dinner and end the day early since we had to leave for the private jeep Safari early in the morning.

We left for the private jeep Safari around 6 am and thr air was so fresh and relaxing. There was an experienced guide who helped us spotting and identifying wildlife. When asked he told us that he had been into this profession for around 15 years now.

Since the minibus Safari also also happens at the same time, we crossed around 2 buses and also spotted a leopard.

The guide also told us that this tiger reserve was once the Mysore Maharaja's private hunting reserve. Today, it is one part of India's largest biosphere reserve called the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'.

We spotted so many Asian elephants since the reserve is home to around 3000 Asian elephants, which is the largest wild elephant population in south Asia. Wildlife sanctuaries have always amazed me since I was a small kid and still continues.
