I was vacationing in Hampi when I heard few tourists talk about this place. So I decided to explore it myself and see what the fuss was all about! It was a three hour drive from hampi and I went alone for a day trip to Badami :3

I found this artist making beautiful painting of the various hindu deities. And as usual, it is a pleasure to see an artist at work!

It was fascinating to see the cave temples carved out of nothing but sandstone & thus the place is called badami because of the colour these rocks give them ( which was my late realisation xD). If you are a nature lover and a history enthusiast this is the perfect place to be!

There were four caves in total out of which the first three were dedicated to hindu deities and last one to Jainism. It was heartwarming to see two different religions coming together to form such a beautiful heritage site! This was the first cave dedicated to Shiva.

This was the 3rd cave dedicated to Lord Vishnu. As I was ascending my impatience grew because I wanted to look at the much sought after aerial view of this small ancient city from the top.

And here was the final leg of this journey. The Jaina-temple cave at the very top of the hill. It was beautifully sculpted.

I could see the Agastya Teertha lake on one side and the cave temples on the other. I stood there transfixed and captivated by the serenity of the lake :3
